double dose...

why is there so much talk of teeth whitening lately? everywhere u go - u r bombarded with adverts for ludicrous processes that are intended to whiten your teeth. this is of particular interest to me for obvious reasons. given that white teeth are what i live by... hehehe. but seriously, i didnot notice this mad frenzy for whiter smiles last year or the year before - or ever. or have i just been living in some hole all this time while people above ground have been just as insanely anal about their dental appearance?
this morning - woke up to a phone msg about a bbq on sunday. mr and ms eats are going to be there as well.. shucks. more white teeth. anywho, at least sth to do on a weekend.
this morning while i was busy doing my morning "ablutions" the guy next door decided to take a shower. so there i was being entertained by his very personal rendition (singing in the rain?) of an a r rehman number. lol. now i know what paper thin walls really mean.
the fumigators are supposed to be coming around to our apts today. we were supposed to get all the shit out of cabinets and closets. i decided to conveniently forget about the whole thing. damned if i'll go through all that trouble for their charade. not before they replace the AC and fix the dripping tap. those are *my" priorities. bugs, i can handle.
needless to say spacestat still isn't working. for once this morning - i did sth right and it read part of the data set (socio-economic data) but then it all shut down again, once i tried to get the *.GAL files into it. that's the story so far.
i miss my msn regular naayika this morning. needed my intellectual fill of the day. but alas, it doesn't seem likely that she will show. ah well.
this office is freezing. i can actually see that my finger tips are turning blue. and u'd think things would change what with summer days finally having arrived. it is 80 degs in the shade outside and frigging 15 degs in here.
i will have to leave in a little bit.. finally got the template finalized. it's not so much finalized as just plain beyond my hand right now. thanks to the idiosyncracies of blogspot updating. took me about three days to get this far. even missed my blog yesterday. so - i've decided to leave it alone. and concentrate on the chronicle instead. which is what it was supposed to be about in the first place.

i have decided to blog at night from now on. that way i get to talk abt the whole day. give a full account. not that there is much. these days naayika and i talk online - which is always intellectually stimulating and sth i greatly enjoy.
i was making plans to cook this evening (so that i can survive on left overs for the rest of the week), but my aunt called from nz. spent an hour on the phone. then vervono called to confirm that the equestrian/conductor/ballet enthusiast (improbable combination to begin with) he met on the internet was indeed lying to him about his true age. personally, i think the man's an impostor -he's lying about his identity. but whatever... it's not my bag as austin would say.
one funny thing that i must mention here. when vervono asked him for yet another picture, this time the guy sent him what vervono calls a headless :x-rated: pic of himself. rotfl.
before i leave one last thing - i submitted my very first short story (this beautiful night) to the wv writer's inc 2003 competition. i have been awarded an :honorable mention: - fat lot of good that is to me.. but anywho, vervono says that i should be glad cuz all great writers have been underappreciated in their time :) dont i know it....

dinner last night, a huge success...
on the menu: sticky rice (aka sweet rice) and scallops in a tomato-garlic sauce. yum! :)
now getting on with the morning...i have to say, all the trouble i've been having with updating changes in blogspot has made writing here sort of "un"spontaneous for me. by the time i get this to look like the way i like, i lose the urge to write.. unlike diaryland, where words flow out of me. need to figure out what to do abt that. :confused:
fyi, bloggers interested in sex and the city: i found some episodes on kazaa.. woo hoo. given that i think the show is the only thing worth my time on tv these days. Meanwhile, this quiz says I am a carrie.. romantic drama queen with an inclination to indulge in naughty foreplay in hallways/elevators... go figure.
forgot to mention, vervono and his buddies are thinking of going to florida in august. driving... which can be awesome fun with the right crowd. but the thing is - they are thinking of staying 8 days - eight days, u heard right. dunno whether i'll get leave from work for that long. plus i'm starting at a new assignment on aug 15 (incidentally my birthday as well)... besides all that techincality - i'm thinking - what to do in fl for 8 days? warrants some inner reflection, this one.
had a good long chat with gmb last night - covered all major ground: cousin's wedding in chicago, cousin's impending move to canada, aunt's afflictions, cousin's alcohol problem,
gutlu's crawling efforts, rabindra jayanti program success... good clean fun. yee haw.
meanwhile, almost overdosed on blueberries and not very good ones either. will have to be careful in future.mustn't overdo things...hahaha.. as if that'll work. have u ever noticed how yucky your mouth (looks) and tastes after you've had some? but they're worth the aftertaste.
am on a fruit and tofu kick right now... only a phase i'm sure. but it's good while it lasts.

somewhat wasted day

I have been trying all day to get blogspot updates to work. to no avail. uff...*@#%&^! i must give up now and go to the gym - my neck is killing me.
May be a little jaunt on the "ass" machine will help me unwind.

altogether - a fruitless day. the travel time matrix i created seems full of missing values. how will i ever invert that???

top o' the morning

this morning woke up earlier than usual. as a result, am in a good mood. Had ample time for a leisurely breakfast (honey bunches of oats rocks!).

in the last two days I have re-learned a little of the html code. Let's see if I can give this template a facelift sometime soon.
there is sooo~oooo much to do today. even thinking about it makes me want to scream.
i'll be back again later today for a post. you know how it is - the novelty of sth new... :)
